The Saskatchewan Geological Society are going to Montana for the 2018 Annual Field Trip. Drs. Michael Hofmann and James Sears (University of Montana) have volunteered to show us around. Michael will show us the Sappington Formation (Bakken equivalent) at Hardscrabble Peak in the Bridger Range. The tour will involve a strenuous hike where we will see the entire Mississippian Madison Group, Sappington plus underlying Devonian Three Forks and Jefferson in outcrop. We will spend two days with James Sears in the Proterozoic sediments of the Belt Super Group. James is the expert in this area.
Michael, our guide, also gave us a paper we could review to become more familiar with the area, found here: http://archives.datapages.com/data/bulletns/2018/05may/BLTN17020/bltn17020.html?utm_medium=website&utm_source=See_Also_Sidebar_Text
