Teacher Resources and Lesson Plans

Teacher Resources and Lesson Plans

In 2020 the Saskatchewan Geological Society (the Society) launched GeoExplore, an interactive website based on the original paper Geological Highway Map of Saskatchewan that was published in 2002. The society has created lesson plans to help teachers use this new resource as a teaching tool in their classrooms. Links to the lesson plans and a variety of other educational resources are provided in the table below, grouped based on GeoExplore Tab.  Links to PDFs of the original paper map are included, and paper copies can be ordered using the SGS publication order form.

The Society contributed to the production of two Geoscape Saskatchewan Posters: one each for northern Saskatchewan and southern Saskatchewan. Hardcopies of the posters can be ordered through our website; they are available in English and French.  The posters can be broken down into thematic panels, PDFs of which can also be downloaded from the table below.

Lesson plans originally created for the Geoscape posters have been updated with current curriculum links and reformatted. They are distinguished by the Geoscape rather than GeoExplore logo in the top right corner. We would like to thank the many geoscientists and educators that contributed to the original Geoscpae lesson plans.
