Nadene Joy, President, Saskatchewan Geological Society
Welcome to the Saskatchewan Geological Society!
As President of the SGS, I am deeply honoured to serve a community of dedicated geoscientists, educators, students, and industry professionals who share a passion for the Earth sciences. Since our founding in 1952, the Society has played a vital role in advancing geological knowledge, fostering scientific collaboration, and promoting public awareness of the importance of geology in our province and beyond.
We stand on a proud legacy of excellence and look forward with purpose. Today, our work is more important than ever as we navigate the evolving landscape of energy, critical minerals, sustainability, environmental stewardship, and innovation. At SGS, we are committed to bridging generations—mentoring youth, partnering with Indigenous communities, and integrating diverse perspectives into our shared mission.
We offer a wide range of events throughout the year—from technical talks and field trips to networking mixers and outreach initiatives—that provide exciting opportunities to learn, connect, and grow. Whether you’re a student starting out, a seasoned geoscientist, or a corporate partner, there’s a meaningful place for you here.
There are many ways to get involved, including volunteering to help organize events, supporting educational programming, and contributing to public outreach. One exciting opportunity currently available is to join the planning committee for our upcoming 75th anniversary celebration in 2026—a historic milestone that will honour our past and shape our future.
I personally look forward to meeting you and having you join us as one of our valued members or corporate members. Together, we are building a strong, inclusive, and forward-thinking geoscience community rooted in scientific excellence, collaboration, and purpose.
Join us as we celebrate our legacy, build our future, and keep the spirit of geology alive in Saskatchewan and beyond!
